Nationwide American Airlines ground stop lifted after IT outage

American Airlines says its flights are resuming after an IT outage led to a temporary nationwide ground stop on Tuesday. CBS News senior transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave has the latest.

FlightAware said American had delayed 1,100 flights, or 30 per cent of flights on July 28.

The airline said flights have begun to resume after a temporary ground stop was put in place.

The Federal Aviation Administration late on ​Tuesday issued a ground ‌stop for American Airlines flights due to an IT ​outage, according to ​a notice posted on the ⁠agency's website.
