Eight family members were killed after a gunman opened fire on their Billings, Montana home and set it on fire before killing himself.

The gunman died of a self-inflicted gunshot.

In Billings, Montana, a suspected family disturbance led to gunfire and a house fire, resulting in several fatalities, including children.

'At 6:12 p.m., the first law enforcement officer arrives on scene, with gunfire being heard at the back of the residence,' the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office told Global News.

The suspect in the incident later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, law enforcement said.
