At least 47 people were killed and 22 more injured in an overnight gang raid on a neighbourhood overlooking Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince, the UN said on Monday, prompting anger over the ​lack of protection from ‌ repeated deadly attacks.

The brutal attack occurred on Sunday in the town of Kenscoff, Haiti in the hills above the capital.

The latest attack comes as Haiti prepares for general elections scheduled for December 13 — the country's first in more than a decade. Voter registration is underway, but experts have warned that widespread insecurity could make holding credible elections extremely difficult.
