Military judge schedules trial for alleged 9/11 mastermind

A military judge has scheduled the start of the long-awaited trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the man accused of being the mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The trial is scheduled to begin June 5, 2028, 18 months later than the January 2027 start that prosecutors had requested.

The alleged mastermind behind the September 11 terror attacks will go on military trial in 2028, a judge has ruled.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who has been held at Guantánamo Bay since 2006, is scheduled to go on trial in June 2028.

Prosecutors had asked for an earlier start. The judge has not yet ruled on several issues related to the defendants’ torture in C.I.A. prisons.
