Mexican Peso Breaks Below 17 to the US Dollar, Strongest Since 2024

The Mexican peso slipped below 17 per US dollar for the first time since 2024, and President Sheinbaum tied the rally to record investment and a firm economy.

The last time that it took fewer than 17 pesos to buy a dollar was on June 3, 2024, the day after the elections in which Claudia Sheinbaum and the Morena party won the presidency and a congressional majority in a landslide.
