Mexican official accused by U.S. of drug trafficking abruptly resigns again

Sinaloa Gov. Ruben Rocha Moya is accused of allegedly colluding with the infamous Sinaloa Cartel to distribute drugs inside the U.S.

Gov. Rubén Rocha Moya of Mexico's Sinaloa state announced Saturday he is once again taking leave — a day after returning to office following a months-long absence after being indicted in the United States on drug-trafficking and other charges.

The teachers were recently arrested and remanded in judicial custody for allegedly functioning as financial intermediaries for inter-State drug traffickers. Their role was uncovered following the arrest of Safwan, the first accused in the case from Vadakara.

Jewel Howard-Taylor was arrested at Liberia's international airport and has not commented on the allegations.

Liberia has charged former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor with drug trafficking, money laundering and related offences in an investigation into an alleged transnational narcotics network.

The president’s legal team, in a notice of rejoinder filed with the US District Court for the District of Columbia, sought to align his response schedule with the defendants'.
