Mets rookie Carson Benge dazzles with two outfield assists in win over Padres

New York Mets rookie Caron Benge fired throws of 99.9 and 103.9 mph to nail runners at home, becoming the first outfielder with two 99+ mph assists in the Statcast era.

Benge became the first MLB outfielder in 22 years to throw out runners at home on consecutive plays in Monday's 2-1 win over the Padres.

It was a charmed life indeed for Nolan McLean, who watched two other rookies — Carson Benge and A.J. Ewing — combine to nail three runners at the plate in the Mets’ 2-1 victory over the Padres at Citi Field.
