Met Éireann issues nationwide Status Yellow rain alert

A nationwide Status Yellow rain and thunderstorm warning has been issued by Met Éireann.

Met Éireann said widespread heavy showers or longer spells of rain could lead to localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

The warning comes from experts at the Met Office, and is in place all day today
