Man posed as San Francisco 49er to defraud women of $1.3 million in multi-state romance scheme, feds say

A man was accused of pretending to be a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women, according to the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Oregon.

The legal drama began in 2023 when the accuser filed a paternity lawsuit claiming Echard had impregnated her with twins after the two met at his Scottsdale, Arizona, home.

Daejon Love allegedly formed fake relationships with women before pressuring them to send him thousands of dollars for fake investments.

He and another man are accused of defrauding at least 26 victims of more than $1.3 million, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in the District of Oregon.

As a result, both players won't have to pay additional taxes on millions of dollars of income, as claimed by the tax agency

Daejon Love and Taylor Jamie Chan were arrested for allegedly scamming 26+ women of over $1.3M by posing as 49ers members and pitching fake investments.

Daejon Love, 35, faces charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. He is accused of masquerading as a 49ers wide receiver to scam women out of $1.3 million.

The alleged scheme started in Feb. 2022 and ultimately ended Aug. 24
