Makinde inaugurates judicial panel to investigate Oyo school abduction

The inauguration comes three weeks after the victims of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers were rescued in a joint operation by the Nigerian security agencies.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, inaugurates an eight-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the May 15 abduction in Oriire LGA.

Makinde said the panel would independently investigate the circumstances surrounding the May 15, 2026 abduction, identify institutional and operational failures, and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.
