Magnitude 5.7 quake near Te Araroa latest in ‘shaky weekend’ for New Zealand

Thousands of people reported feeling last night's quake after it struck near Te Araroa.

A 4.7-magnitude earthquake shook a southern Italian region near Naples on Friday, but authorities said there were no immediate requests for emergency help.

More than 1400 people reported feeling the quake on Saturday afternoon.

The earthquake occurred at 3.23pm, about 35km north-west of Te Anau.
