Lok Sabha Passes Bill To Allow Charges On UPI, Other Digital Payments

Real-time payments made through RTGS and NEFT are done by paying a service charge. However, UPI transactions have been exempted from such charges so far.

Under the proposed changes, the Central government would be empowered to specify, through a notification, the electronic payment modes or transactions that must continue to remain free of charges.
