Lake Mead water has hit a new historical low - with no signs of improvement

Lake Mead is part of the Colorado River Basin system, which supplies water to around 40 million people across seven states, tribal communities and parts of Mexico

Lake Mead's water level fell to 1,040.5 feet on Friday. It has continued to fall every day this month, the Bureau of Reclamation reported.

Lake Mead, which stretches along the Utah-Arizona border, was formed in the mid-1930s when the Hoover Dam was constructed on the Colorado River. The lake supplies water to more than 20 million people.
