JERUSALEM, Aug 17 - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to meet Donald Trump's envoy and son-in-law Jared Kushner on Monday, a day after he held a rare meeting with Hamas officials in Cairo, in a bid to push forward the U.S. president's Gaza peace plan.

The meeting comes two weeks after Hamas endorsed the latest stage of Trump’s Gaza plan, which Netanyahu has refused to support.

According to the senior official, the talks expected in Jerusalem will focus on ways to accelerate the implementation of Trump's 20-point plan, with the end goal being a demilitarized Hamas.

Kushner is expected to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later on Monday.
