Kushner's talks with Israel, Hamas end without breakthrough on Trump Gaza plan

The talks stalled as Israel continued military operations in Gaza while Hamas refused to give up its weapons.

Donald Trump's envoy Jared Kushner, flanked by Tony Blair, met Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for several hours today in an effort to break the impasse over the US-led peace plan for Gaza.

A senior Israeli official told news agency AFP that the US and Israel had "agreed that no redeployment or reconstruction would take place in the Gaza Strip before Hamas is disarmed throughout Gaza."

Hamas said it agreed to the roadmap, but implementation depended on Israel first meeting its own commitments.

Jared Kushner and Benjamin Netanyahu have discussed putting a US general in charge of verifying Hamas's disarmaments, with Israel's military to remain place until that happens.
