TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan's Foreign Ministry lodged a protest with South Korea on Friday over suspected maritime research near islets in the Sea of Japan

According to Tokyo, a South Korean vessel was found dropping what appeared to be a wire into the sea near the islets.
