FIFA has reportedly sacked the organisation chief operating officer, who last month, published scathing criticism of Gianni Infantino's now-shelved plan to sell a stake in the World Cup to private equity. Frenchman Kevin Lamour has now departed the world football governing body, which was confirmed by FIFA on Monday. T

The senior FIFA executive had warned speaking out against Infantino's controversial investment plan could cost him his job.

A former employee of European governing body Uefa, Kevin Lamour had served as Fifa COO since November 2024.

He was one of the highest-ranking FIFA figures to speak out against Infantino's proposal to sell stakes in competitions, including the World Cup, to private investors.

In a statement to the Associated Press last month, Lamour invited the possibility of losing his job while saying that staff were 'deceived' by Infantino's push to send through the proposal, and calling it 'the project of one person.'
