Jharkhand exam protests enter 19th day, students vow to intensify agitation

The students, protesting under the banner of the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, have refused to call off their agitation despite assurances from the Hemant Soren government on reforms in the recruitment system.

Jharkhand Protest: While speaking to reporters here, Student leader Ravindra Paswan said around 50,000 students participated in the march in Ranchi despite alleged attempts by the police administration to stop students in different districts.

Protests in Ranchi, capital of the eastern state home to more than 33 million people, began on Jul 29, days after a youth-led "cockroach" movement in New Delhi forced the resignation of the national education minister.

The woman is said to have been among a largely 'peaceful' protest when the crowd became 'rowdy' and officers used the device.
