Strikes hit Gaza homes after the US unveiled plan for Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal.

Hamas’s pledge to disarm could advance Trump’s Gaza plan, but verification, Israeli withdrawal, governance and regional tensions remain major hurdles.

Trump said “we just want to win” in Iran and signaled that he expected U.S. military action to continue for some time.

Mr Trump also disclosed that the agreement will be carried out in carefully structured phases and that “once disarmament is completed, Israeli forces will withdraw.”

President Trump said Friday that Israel is pleased with the Board of Peace’s agreement with Hamas to disarm the militant group in Gaza, despite its apparent skepticism of the framework.  “We do have an understanding with Israel,” Trump told reporters at his Cabinet meeting at Camp David. “Israel is very happy about it.

However sceptical you are, Hamas has moved closer to disarmament. Now Israel must uphold its side of the deal, writes Edmund Heaphy.

President Trump created the international organization, aimed at resolving the long-running war in Gaza and other conflicts.

A Hamas official and a diplomat close to the Cairo talks said the progress would be tested by Israel's response and whether this allowed a broad accord to be reached.
