Israel, Honduras revive defence ties amid Latin America shift

Israel and Honduras are deepening defense and security ties with a new memorandum, as the Central American country renews diplomatic engagement with Israel.

Russia accused the intelligence services of a Western country of aiming to portray Moscow as an illegal weapons supplier in Latin America.

In 2021, Honduras became one of the first countries to move its embassy to Jerusalem, joining the US, Guatemala, and Kosovo.

While ongoing military actions in Gaza and settler attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have largely isolated Israel globally, Latin America's authoritarian right sees an opening for a strategic alliance.
