Irish singer-songwriter Cat Dowling dies aged 54

Irish singer-songwriter Cat Dowling, who first came to prominence as the frontwoman of Dublin band Alphastates, has died aged 54.

Francesco Guccini, 86, a towering figure of Italian songwriting and culture, has died in Pavana. A private funeral will be held, with a public ceremony planned for September.
