Iran makes new strait demands, UAE says ship was targeted by Iranian missile

Iran's politburo-like body known as the Supreme National Security Council said the Strait of Hormuz will not open until the U.S. “corrects its behavior.”

Attacks in the Strait of Hormuz today have put negotiations on tenterhooks.

A U.S. official, who declined to be identified, said on Friday that Washington anticipated an agreement soon between Iran and Oman, which sit on either side of the strait, so that normal oil traffic could resume.

Iran's military stressed that the crucial waterway would only be reopened when the U.S. accepts Iran's conditions.

The Supreme National Security Council said the US must never threaten Iran again and permanently end the war with Iran and its armed allies.

The UAE accused Iran of targeting commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz as ADNOC says 15 of its vessels have been attacked since the conflict began.

ADNOC said that no injuries were reported and the situation had been brought under control, the state news agency WAM reported.

The proposed legislation, dubbed the “Strategic Action for the Security and Sustainable Development of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf,” is under review by parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Tasnim reported.
