Gianni Infantino’s FIFA investment plan faces major opposition after a senior adviser resigned and three confederations rejected the proposal.

After regional football federations condemned FIFA plans for private investment, with European nations even threatening a World Cup boycott, a senior advisor to FIFA President Infantino has tendered his resignation.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) joined UEFA and CONCACAF in condemning world football's governing body FIFA's proposed private investment plan, saying on Friday they were alarmed it had reached the point a "World Cup boycott has entered public discourse".
