Indiana's governor declared a disaster emergency over heavy flooding on Thursday as millions of Americans face similar threats across the Midwest. CBS News correspondent Ian Lee has more from the disaster zone.

Typhoon Dolphin churned deeper inland to the central Chinese province of Hubei on Tuesday, flooding streets, forcing the closure of tourist areas and halting construction projects, as forecasters warned of extreme rainfall across a broad swathe of the country.

A red alert was issued by the China Meteorological Administration, the second time this year after Typhoon Noul in late July.

Even as it weakens, Typhoon Dolphin is disrupting life in China. Close to 1,500 flights have been canceled in Shanghai while parts of Beijing are under flood alert.

The storm, which made landfall on Sunday evening, is the strongest to hit China this year and also caused flooding in parts of the Philippines.
