In latest show of security cooperation, Mexico and US sign drone agreement

The agreement is non-binding and includes few details and no purchase commitment, but the U.S. says it allows Mexico to buy unmanned aerial systems from the U.S. to counter drone use by cartels.

Mexico and the United States signed a non-binding declaration of intent on 11 August 2026, pre-clearing Sedena to shop on a Pentagon-run online marketplace for drones and counter-drone gear. No models, no quantities, no price — and nothing has been bought.
