Immigrant-led business group votes to sue NYC over Mamdani’s taxpayer-funded grocery stores, alleging unfair competition

The board of an immigrant led business group is preparing to sue New York City over its plan to open five subsidized grocery stores that will undercut existing food stores in the neighborhood, The Post has learned.

The stores will sell everyday essentials, like meat, eggs and vegetables, to New Yorkers at a discount of 30%.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on Monday his administration will be offering 30% discounts for staple items at his promised government-run grocery stores in each of the city’s five boroughs. The first city-owned grocery store is expected to open in the Bronx by the end of 2027, with another location in Ma
