Iceland starts counting votes for EU talks referendum

Iceland voted in a referendum on whether to resume membership negotiations with the European Union, with a close race predicted and the final result expected late in the night or next morning.

The first partial results of Iceland's referendum have started to come in, with the Southern Constituency leaning decisively for the 'No'. Voters were asked whether to resume EU accession negotiations, frozen since 2013.Turnout appeared as high as in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
