ICE releases father of U.S. Navy sailor serving on USS Abraham Lincoln

Luis Manuel Aviles Roa, the father of a U.S. Navy sailor onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, was released by ICE on Tuesday, his family told CBS News.

The sailor, Joshua Aviles, was on his way home from the Middle East aboard the beleaguered aircraft carrier when he learned his father had been detained.

Luis Manuel Aviles Roa was detained on Saturday. His son, Joshua Aviles, said the arrest came as he was “fighting for a country that has given me everything.”

'I don’t know how I can mentally continue working 12+ hour days knowing that my dad is somewhere, possibly being treated like a criminal,' Joshua Aviles wrote.
