Tropical storm Dolphin dumped heavy rain in eastern China on Monday, causing flooding in places after making landfall as a typhoon the previous day. Authorities have warned of risks of severe flooding and landslides in some areas.

Many streets in Shanghai, the country's second most populated city, were flooded, including in the main commercial centers.

Torrential rain and storms in Typhoon Dolphin's wake have inundated several provinces in China's east, cancelling of hundreds of flights.

Dolphin is forecast to move deeper inland to the central provinces of Hubei and Henan in ⁠the coming days.

Typhoon Dolphin roared into eastern China Sunday at Force 13 speeds of 85 miles per hour, producing extreme downpours and prompting the cancelation of hundreds of flights, official media reported.

The cyclone had already swept across Japan, injuring six people and cutting power to more than 50,000 buildings.

Flights serving eastern China were disrupted on Saturday as Typhoon Dolphin approached the coast, with some services cancelled and airlines offering flexible rebooking and refund options for affected passengers.
