Hundreds dead as over 2,000 remain missing in massive Nepal-Tibet flood

The death toll continues to climb two days after massive flash flooding obliterated parts of the Nepal-Tibet border region on Wednesday with nearly 2,000 people missing.

An ice avalanche that started high in the Himalayas tumbled thousands of feet, releasing vast amounts of energy that pulverized the ice into a significant volume of flood water.

Torrential rains and swollen rivers caused massive floods and dangerous landslides in Tibet and Nepal on Wednesday, sweeping away villages and destroying crucial roads and bridges.
