Huge plumes of smoke fill sky as 125 firefighters tackle Mitcham grass blaze

Residents in Mitcham have been told to keep windows and doors closed as around 125 firefighters tackle a grass fire.

The large fire is at an industrial site with four hectares of surrounding scrubland also ablaze

Twenty fire engines are at the scene as the blaze is affecting a range of garages and producing a significant amount of smoke.

It involves a large vessel carrying approximately 20,000 tonnes of scrap metal

Firefighters are working to contain the Hawk Fire near Reno, Nevada, after drought and high winds fueled the flames. CBS News' Jason Allen has more.
