Almost immediately after the president tried to blame Americans, key Democratic officials turned the spotlight on the Republican’s cuts to cybersecurity.

Cyberattacks targeting water systems in multiple states over the past week have raised questions about infrastructure security and whether the incidents are connected to Iran.

The FBI says water utilities in at least seven states were hit by cyberattacks as Minnesota, Michigan and others report incidents.

No culprit has been identified in any of the attacks, which comes after authorities warned of possible Iranian plot.

Earlier this week, authorities said cyberattacks targeted over 30 water systems in Minnesota.

The source of these attacks remains under investigation, though they coincide with warnings that Iranian hackers have been focusing on such systems
