House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries met privately with U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, the New York Times reported.

The New York Times reported Sunday the unlikely pair met in New York City in recent weeks to discuss “potential areas of common ground.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., recently met privately with Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and informal adviser, where they discussed possible areas of cooperation, a source familiar with the meeting confirmed to NBC News.

According to the New York Times' report, topics discussed between the two included housing, immigration and the cost of living.
