Authorities in Guatemala have ordered evacuations in some southern communities around the Fuego volcano, which is erupting.

Guatemala has declared a nationwide orange danger alert after Volcán de Fuego, one of Central America's most active volcanoes, erupted sending lava, ash and smoke into the air and forcing residents in nearby villages to evacuate.

A major volcano has started spewing molten-hot lava with the 'danger' alert declared nationwide.

As per local authorities, the eruption of Volcano Fuego is headed towards an increased level of eruption, which will be more explosive in nature.

Fuego is considered by seismologists to be one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
