Greece wildfire horror as Brit tourists flee blaze that killed three firefighters

Thousands of tourists including Brits have been forced to flee deadly wildfires sweeping through the Greek islands of Crete and Paros

Greece is the latest country to be hit by a deadly wave of wildfires.

Thousands of residents and tourists were evacuated from Crete as wildfires threatened popular tourist areas.

Over 220 firefighters are battling a blaze in southern Crete, whilst strong winds are hampering aerial water drops. The funerals of the two firefighters who lost their lives yesterday are taking place on Thursday. In Plomari, Lesbos, the fires are continuing to flare up.

Two firefighters died in a blaze on the Greek island of Crete Wednesday while crews in France confronted a wildfire four times the size of Paris, officials said.
