ATHENS, Aug 1 - Wildfires fanned by heavy winds burned across multiple areas of Greece on Saturday, including near Athens, with large-scale firefighting operations and emergency evacuations underway, while conditions worsened again in parts of Spain and France.

Wildfires are now burning in more European countries, including the United Kingdom. And in France, one of its most famous residents, George Clooney, was forced to evacuate. NBC News’ Raf Sanchez is on the front lines.

France, Spain and Greece battled major wildfires on Thursday as soaring temperatures, parched vegetation and powerful winds extended a summer of deadly fires, mass evacuations and mounting disruption across Europe.
