Google shakes up AI leadership announcing CEO Demis Hassabis to step aside

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, has announced a significant overhaul of its artificial intelligence division, seeing AI chief Demis Hassabis step back from his primary managerial role and several key leaders of its Gemini model, including veteran engineer Jeff Dean, depart the company.

Minutes after four top researchers said they were leaving, Google said that Demis Hassabis, the Nobel-winning scientist who led the company’s A.I. lab, was stepping into a new job.
