Global HIV funding suffers record decline

International donor funding for HIV programmes in low- and middle-income countries fell by US$2.1 billion in 2025, the steepest annual decline since global HIV financing began.

UNAIDS and KFF, an independent US-based health policy research organisation, attributed the decline almost entirely to a sharp reduction in financial support from the United States, following funding delays and the cancellation of several global health programmes.
