The victim of a deadly sword attack at a Swedish high school was a 17-year-old girl, police have confirmed.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson visited the site on Saturday.

The person killed in a sword attack in a Swedish high school was a 17-year-old female student, police said on Saturday.

"The investigators are looking into various online communities which might have egged on the suspect to carry out the attack," said a police source.

An 18-year-old man armed with a sword carried out the attack at the Brinell School in Fagersta, northwest of Stockholm, while classes were in session on Friday. One person was killed and three others were wounded, two of them severely.
