Germany to blame Moscow for airport drone incident on Tuesday, Bild reports

BERLIN, Sept 1 - Germany's ministers for the interior and for foreign affairs plan to announce on Tuesday that Russian intelligence services were behind an attempted drone attack on a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig/Halle airport in early August, Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday.

In the coming days, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz plans to accuse Russia of an attempted act of sabotage at Leipzig airport, where drones with explosives were found, Politico and the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag said, citing sources.

The German government is preparing to officially blame Russia for the Aug. 4 explosive drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport and impose broad sanctions.
