French prosecutors probe Russian disinformation campaign against centrist candidates

French prosecutors have opened a probe into a suspected Russian disinformation campaign targeting centrist candidates in next year's presidential elections, the office of the Paris prosecutor said on Tuesday.

At the start of August, a series of disinformation operations targeted centrist candidates Gabriel Attal and Edouard Philippe, as well as center-left politician Raphaël Glucksmann.

Presidential contenders Edouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal were purportedly targeted by Russia-affiliated networks this summer.
