French coastguards rescue 157 from burning migrant boat in English Channel

PARIS, Aug 4 - French coastguards rescued 157 people from a boat carrying migrants that caught fire in the English Channel on Tuesday near the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, the local administration said in a statement.

Search teams were deployed at about 6am on Tuesday after the boat’s engine burst into flames off the coast of Boulogne-sur-Mer

The boat was attempting to cross to the UK when its engine caught fire, according to the French maritime prefecture of the Channel and North Sea.
