France: Drought conditions worsen amid successive heatwaves

Amid the extreme heat this summer, France is also grappling with an exceptional drought. Two thirds of ground water levels are currently below normal and around 70% of the country has been placed under 'water restrictions' to help preserve supplies.

July 2026 was the hottest month ever in the United States, whilst almost three-quarters of England is now in drought.
