More than 4,000 flight attendants at WestJet began their strike at 12:01 a.m. MT on Sunday after the notice period ran out, leading to a cancellation of hundreds of flights and leaving thousands of travellers stranded.

WestJet has begun cancelling flights ahead of a potential flight attendant strike, saying the move is intended to prevent widespread disruptions across its network.
