British cyclist Finlay Tarling died Friday during the eighth stage of the Volta a Portugal, race organizers confirmed, leading officials to neutralize the remainder of the stage.

Finlay Tarling, 19, was struck by a car that reportedly entered the road during stage 8 of the Volta a Portugal and died, his NSN Cycling Team announced.

Tarling, a rider with the NSN Development Team, died following a ‘serious accident’ during the stage between Melgaço and Fafe.
