FDA approves Moderna's mRNA seasonal flu vaccine

The Food and Drug Administration approved Moderna's mRNA seasonal flu vaccine on Wednesday.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a new seasonal flu vaccine from Moderna that uses mRNA technology, the drugmaker announced.

The shot, mFlusiva, was given a ​traditional approval for adults aged 50 to 64.

The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday approved the U.S.’s first flu shot that uses mRNA technology: mFlusiva, from drugmaker Moderna.

The agency had initially refused to even review the application but reversed course after a public outcry.
