F1 to end season in Europe if no Middle East races

F1's chief executive confirms a deadline in mid-September to decide whether the season-concluding races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi must be held in Europe due to the Iran war.

The 2026 Formula 1 season will end in Europe in the event the final two scheduled races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi need to be relocated because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, F1 president Stefano Domenicali has confirmed.

“I can guarantee that we will not do any other race in the U.S.,” F1 CEO and president Stefano Domenicali told reporters Wednesday.

The 2026 World Endurance Championship will conclude in Europe, with the planned events in the Middle East replaced by new races in Barcelona and Monza. Following visits to Austin and Fuji in September, the championship was supposed to head to the Gulf in September, with the rescheduled Qatar 1812km race set for 24 Octo
