The Democratic Republic of Congo and the Rwanda-backed M23 have agreed on a roadmap for peace talks, setting out the next steps and timetable under the Doha framework. The deal comes after months of stalled diplomacy and renewed fighting in the east.

Both sides had previously signed an agreement in Doha last year, but fighting has continued in mineral-rich eastern DRC, a region that has endured years of conflict.

Representatives met in Switzerland to work out next steps to resolve the conflict.

Roadmap follows a week of talks in Switzerland aimed at making progress on a framework agreement they signed last year.
