The current strain has so far killed 1,587 people, and there is currently no approved vaccine or treatment.

The virus has now spread across five provinces, including Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uélé, and Tshopo, affecting 49 health zones.

As at July 30, 3,605 confirmed cases, including 1,587 deaths, had been reported in the DR Congo.
