Disney, ABC sue FCC over early license renewals, alleging "retaliatory campaign"

Disney and ABC have filed a lawsuit to stop the Trump administration from launching an early licence renewal process, arguing that the network is being unfairly targeted over its editorial content.

The Disney Grooming Syndicate is suing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to stop a requested early license renewal process of the eight TV stations the groomers own and operate.

The network accuses the administration of retaliation against ABC, as it "disapproves of what ABC broadcasts".

Disney says the Trump administration “has attacked ABC’s speech — the stories its journalists report and the viewpoints its network programs air.”

The lawsuit, which was filed in Washington, DC, federal court, seeks a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction on the FCC’s review of eight of Disney’s licenses – including ABC channels in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
